Next weekend is Albuquerque Comic Expo (June 24, 25, and 26) and I've decided to embark on a little, or I guess big, experiment. I'll executing a ginormous drawing of one of my favorite characters, Wolverine, throughout the weekend which, by the way, will be available for purchase (details below). The drawing will measure a whopping 2 feet by 3 feet! I'll be using my traditional process, albeit supersized, of brush and ink over a blueline underdrawing. Granted I've had to make a few adjustment to my process to accommodate such a large scale. Instead of my standard #4 sable and india ink I'll be using Chinese calligraphy brushes and sumi ink. And whereas my blueline "pencils" for my interior work are digital prints, I transferred my original (smaller) drawing of Wolvie using a process called "xerox acetone transfer". The result isn't as clean and crisp as a digital print but it got the job done well enough for me to have something to ink over.
You can find me working on this bad boy in the Artists Alley at table D12 starting this Friday, June 24th.
How can you get your mitts on this veritable masterpiece you say? Why thank you for asking! It's gonna be available silent auction style. I'll have a little auction sheet sitting right there on my table where you can come and place your bids. I'm starting the bidding off at a mere 150 bucks! And if your the first one on scene you'll have the opportunity to "buy it now" for $450!!
So hopefully there'll be a nice little bidding war resulting in some lucking person going home with a sweet ass drawing of Wolverine!!!
